Terms & Conditions

Version 18 October 2026 · Applies to everyone who uses onrizo.com

The rules for buying, selling and promoting on Onrizo, including how your payment is held until you confirm delivery.

1. Who we are

Onrizo Shop (“Onrizo”, “we”, “us”) operates the website onrizo.com, an online marketplace in Kenya where independent sellers list products and buyers purchase them. “You” means anyone who browses, buys, sells or promotes products on Onrizo.

2. Accepting these terms

By placing an order, creating a seller or affiliate account, or otherwise using Onrizo, you agree to these Terms & Conditions, the Buyer Protection & Refund Policy and the Privacy Policy. Sellers also agree to the Seller Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Onrizo. You must be at least 18 years old, or use Onrizo with a parent or guardian’s involvement, and be able to enter a binding contract under Kenyan law.

3. Our role as a marketplace

Sellers on Onrizo are independent businesses or individuals. The contract for the sale of a product is between the buyer and the seller. Onrizo provides the platform, collects and safeguards the buyer’s payment until delivery is confirmed (see section 6), and helps resolve disputes. Onrizo does not manufacture, stock, inspect or ship the products unless we expressly say so, and we do not guarantee any seller’s listing, although we take steps to remove fraudulent or unlawful ones.

4. Accounts

5. Orders and prices

6. Payments and escrow

All payments are made by M-Pesa through Safaricom’s Daraja service. When you pay:

  1. Your money is held. Onrizo holds your payment. The seller is told you have paid, but cannot access the money yet.
  2. The seller dispatches. You can track the order and you get an email when it ships.
  3. You check the item. When it arrives, you either confirm that you received it in good condition, or report a problem.
  4. The money is released. After you confirm, the payment is released to the seller’s balance. If you report a problem, the payment is frozen until Onrizo has reviewed it.
Important: confirming receipt is final. Only confirm once the item has arrived and you are satisfied. If you do not confirm or dispute within 7 days after the seller marks the order as dispatched, the payment is released to the seller automatically.

Funds held for you do not earn interest. We may delay or refuse a release or withdrawal where we reasonably suspect fraud, payment error or illegal activity, or where the law requires. Full details are in the Buyer Protection & Refund Policy. You are responsible for any M-Pesa or mobile network charges you incur.

7. Delivery

The seller arranges delivery to the location you pinned and described at checkout. Delivery fees and estimated times are communicated by the seller or shown at checkout. Please make sure your phone is reachable and your delivery details are correct. Risk in the goods passes to you when they are delivered to you. A failed delivery caused by wrong or unreachable details may be treated as the buyer’s responsibility.

8. Cancellations, refunds and disputes

You can cancel an unpaid order at any time. If a paid order is not dispatched, or the seller cancels it, you are refunded in full. If an item does not arrive, arrives damaged or defective, is materially not as described, or is the wrong item, report it from your tracking page before you confirm receipt (or before the 7-day automatic release). Onrizo reviews the evidence from both sides and decides whether to release the payment to the seller or refund the buyer. The process, timelines and exclusions are in the Buyer Protection & Refund Policy. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2012 or other Kenyan law.

9. Prohibited items and conduct

You must not list, buy or promote anything illegal in Kenya, including counterfeit or stolen goods, illegal drugs, weapons, or anything infringing someone else’s rights. You must not: give false information; use Onrizo to launder money or commit fraud; pay or arrange payment outside Onrizo to avoid escrow for orders started on Onrizo; abuse the dispute process (for example by making false claims); interfere with the security or operation of the site; or harass other users. We may remove listings and take action under section 13.

10. Affiliates

Affiliates earn a commission when a sale they referred is completed, meaning the payment has been released to the seller. Commission is not earned on orders that are cancelled, refunded or still in dispute. Self-referrals and misleading promotion are not allowed. Commission rates are set per product and shown in the affiliate dashboard.

11. Our content and your content

The Onrizo name, logo, design and software belong to us. Sellers keep ownership of their listings and images but give Onrizo a free, non-exclusive licence to display them on and to promote the marketplace. Sellers confirm they have the right to use everything they upload.

12. Liability

We do our best to keep Onrizo available and accurate, but it is provided “as is” and may be interrupted. To the extent the law allows, Onrizo is not liable for the seller’s goods, a seller’s or buyer’s acts or omissions, delivery delays, or indirect or consequential losses. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or removes your statutory consumer rights.

13. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account, remove listings, or withhold funds relating to suspected fraud or breaches of these terms or the law. We will tell you why where we can. You may stop using Onrizo at any time, but orders already paid for remain subject to these terms until completed or resolved.

14. Changes

We may update these terms. The version date at the top shows the current version. Material changes apply to orders placed after the change; the version you accepted when ordering is recorded with your order. Continued use after a change means you accept it.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve any complaint. If we cannot, the courts of Kenya have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer rights you have to bring a claim elsewhere.
